Clinical Psychology

 

 

Clinical psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on psychological assessment, diagnosis of mental illness, psychotherapy and prevention of mental disorders. Clinical psychologists provide psychotherapy for clients with mental disorders, emotional disturbances and behavioural problems based primarily on talking therapy and expressive therapy, rather than drugs.

Clinical psychologists work with individuals, couples, families and groups to help them overcome a range of psychological issues. Through psychotherapy, clients learn to understand their inner conflicts, generate new insights to alleviate psychological distress, enhance personal development and improve psychological well-being and daily functioning.
